We were pleased to welcome Karl Demian (Chief Executive of The Ambulance Staff Charity, TASC to our recent Board meeting. Karl briefed Directors on the work of TASC and the tremendous amount of support they provide to the ambulance community, independent, NHS and voluntary staff.
Formed in 2015, TASC brought together several bodies under one organisation, providing a range of support programmes, self-help guides and toolkits, as well as funding for a range of physical and mental well-being support, including those who’ve retired from the ambulance community.
The growth and reach of TASC has achieved since its launch has been significant, Karl shared that in the current financial year, TASC has:
– funded some 4,000 counselling support sessions
– provided over £50,000 in support grants, and
– helped obtain over £200,000 in additional benefit payments.
IAA Directors agreed to work more closely with TASC in supporting their work, and to encourage greater levels of engagement across the independent sector.
