The Be Curious webinars are intended to raise awareness of the relevant legislation and requirements for safeguarding, and to highlight the challenges of sexual safety within ambulance providers.

The webinar is particularly relevant for those involved in recruitment and/or safeguarding, and will cover:

– Safe recruitment and associated safeguarding risks
– How Freedom to Speak Up/Whistleblowing and abuse/assaults on staff should integrate with safeguarding systems
– Managing safeguarding incidents involving People in Positions of Trust (PiPoT)
– Dealing with safeguarding allegations/incidents

Access is free of charge to IAA members and £60 for non-IAA members. The webinar will last for an hour and will be hosted by Alan Howson, Executive Chairman of Independent Ambulance Association and led by Dave Blain, a leading child and adult safeguarding professional.

About our guest speaker:

Dave Blain was the regional safeguarding lead for NHS England, a role that encompassed multi-agency liaison across the north of England, from GPs to Clinical Commissioning Groups and NHS Trusts.

Dave established the national NHS Ambulance Safeguarding Group in 2009, and for the past 10 years has been the national Safeguarding Advisor for the College of Paramedics, including curriculum guidance, safeguarding allegations and continuing professional development.

He held two safeguarding positions with two Clinical Commissioning Groups and has also been involved in numerous national stakeholder groups on the issue of safeguarding, contributing to national guidance and associated resources.
