IAA members are encouraged to introduce a whistleblowing policy and procedure in their companies as part of the Association’s commitment to enhance the reputation of independent ambulance providers and the quality of patient services they deliver.

The CQC says that future compliance inspections of registered independent ambulance services, providers will include a review of their whistleblowing policy.

The CQC has published a guidance booklet whistleblowing which, among other issues, explains that the Public Interest Disclosure Act 1998 (PIDA) gives protection to a worker who reports concerns about where they work if that worker genuinely believes their concerns are true.
