BBC News has highlighted the increasing incidents of ambulance services conveying bariatric patients and the challenges they face. The report also highlights the changes NHS Ambulance Trusts have made to their vehicle fleets.

The Association was approached by BBC South East who were interested to know how the independent ambulance companies were meeting the challenges of moving bariatric patients.

Ali Hashim (Managing Director at IAA Member company BEARS) kindly agreed to be interviewed by BBC Radio Kent’s reporter Matt Davison and show him the vehicles they use, the equipment and the investment made in order to provide safe and comfortable transportation.

The interview with Ali can be found at 1 hour 45 minutes into the programme via this link and is a very good shop-window for the sector and Ali’s professional, knowledgeable and caring approach to his business.
